gold standard

This week seemed to fly by! I think the combination of craziness following the snow storm and Halloween made the first half of the week disappear, then the second half flowed so quickly. Hey, I'm certainly not complaining!! I am welcoming Friday with open arms!
My weekend isn't going to be too exciting. Right now I'm in the beginning phases of preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas so I have a couple of DIY projects planned. Hopefully they come out well and I can share them with you over the next couple weeks.
My most exciting plan for the weekend is the 8k I will be running on Sunday with my mom. She is doing the 5k, and her first one running for that matter. She walked the turkey trot a couple years ago, but now she is planning on running the princess half with me, so she needs to get her booty moving!! Hopefully I'll be able to report back on Monday with great news about wonderful times and then some good pictures too!
So onto my favorite link up of the week - Friday's Fancies!! I got the email about this week's theme from Alison and I swear I squealed a little bit when I read it! She was contacted by Lilly Pulitzer to do a giveaway for them! I can't even believe it. As a blogger, I don't know how she composed her self long enough to reply to them...I think I would have peed my pants! So to enter the giveaway I had to create a look using at least two pieces from the new Jungle Glam collection. There were so many pieces I loved that I actually ended up making two looks. I did a day and an evening. For the day look, I went with the gorgeous straight leg pants, a comfy top and a great necklace from the line. The dress I chose for the night look is by far my favorite piece in the entire collection, it is the reason I had to make two looks. Then all tossed together with some other fun accessories care of polyvore - we have a day's worth of clothes!

One of the things I love about the Jungle Glam collection is the color palette. Typically I'm not the gold kind of girl. I stick to silver most often, sometimes dipping into white gold, but rarely do I ever wear yellow gold. There was something about this collection that screamed gold to me though. I love how they managed to make gold young again. Usually when I see yellow gold items they tend to look too grown up for me. I know that is kinda silly, but that's my general opinion. Like I'd have to wear it to go play cards at the country club or to high tea in the middle of the afternoon. But here I really fell in love with the fun yellow gold accents!
I hope you enjoy these looks as much as I do. I think I need all of these pieces to be added to my wardrobe as soon as possible! Winning the giveaway would be a big help with that!!!

Great outfits! I tend to wear more gold than silver. This is crazy because I used to be all about the silver. Funny how your taste changes!
