skirts for spring

I live in skirts from April until October. Skirts and dresses are just so easy and comfortable when it's warm out. I love skirts because they are a bit more versatile than dresses. I like that I can pair them with a different shirt, cardigan or belt and it makes a totally different outfit. I've been on the hunt for some new additions to my spring/summer wardrobe and these are the three that I think I'll be adding this year. I already bought the Target set - I paid $15 for the whole outfit - you can't beat that!

puppy monday

This weekend was kind of a wash, but Thursday and Friday we managed to get the dogs out and about to wear them out before they'd be locked inside because of 50 mph winds.

Heading out - this gets the dogs so excited.

Out taking the pups for a walk

Cooper was trying to free Sheldon his leash, it was adorable.

Cooper snuggled up on Mike's pillow after he left for work.

Dog park! It was super windy, but those are the faces of two very happy dogs!!

Cooper went swimming! He LOVED it!

a gorgeous day at the park

I made tons of stuff for the baby shower this weekend

a "pop" for the front door!!

I love to cuddle these little men.

picnic worthy

This week has been fantastic. Other than trying to keep my leg's pain in check, I've spent it enjoying every minute of the gorgeous weather.

It seems fitting that this week's Friday Fancies theme is going on a picnic! I'm dying to go somewhere beautiful on a picnic. I'll have to come up with somewhere for Mike and me to go sometime soon.
picnic worthy

A perfect simple pink t shirt, plain and it goes with everything. A perfect basic.

Cute shorts are perfect for everyday wear during the spring and summer.

I am head over heels for these shoes. Wedges are perfect for picnics. Especially if you have to wander through grass or dirt to get to the perfect picnic location.

Love this flowered bag.

Even a picnic deserves a little bit of sparkle.

Loving this floppy hat to keep the sun out of my eyes while we spend the afternoon basking in the sun.

While this outfit is fabulous and a great part of a perfect picnic, I also need the perfect picnic basket. Since my ideal picnic spot is by a lake or a waterfall, I think it should be a picnic backpack. I found this one and I'm kind of in love with it...But $100 seems a bit crazy for a picnic...

run baby run

I haven't been on a run since I fell on Monday but this weather has me aching for it! Today it's 70 and bright and sunny. This is the first time that I've felt the burning desire to be out there pounding the pavement since the half and I'm in too much pain to walk let alone run. I'm whining a little bit. It's ok though. I'm distracting myself with thoughts of my sister's baby shower. It's next weekend, the 28th, and I'm totally ready for it!
I've mentioned before that we're going with a "she's about to pop" theme. I don't think I could be more in love with the theme. I've been working on printables to cut out and put all over the house. I have the word "pop" ready to go, I'm working on the starburst that is on the invitation. I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to make that work, but it's on the to do list.
We're also working on figuring out how to do the balloons hanging from the ceiling thing realistically. I don't want to be individually taping 150 balloons (that's how many I've decided we need) to the ceiling. My current plan is to tie them to fishing line to make them dangle then tying the fishing line to another line that will hang across the ceiling. Have any better ideas for me? Here's the pin I'm working from, except I want to do my whole living room which is about 20x15....Maybe that isn't realistic - thoughts?

This is what I have so far with the letters cut out - I don't know if I'm loving the font, and we aren't going with yellow. The colors we're using are teal and neon green for everything. I was using this as a test for the font and I'm glad I didn't waste the good colored paper on it. I think the font needs to be more bold.

This is the invitation that we're basing everything off of. I am so happy with how it came out. I can't wait for this shower. I love this baby too much for me to handle already. I can't wait to meet him!

no falls after all...

Kristyn and I took off to Minnewaska State Park today hoping to do about a 5-6 mile hike. We were hoping to head to see Rainbow Falls and hang out there for a bit before heading back to the cars. Well, long story short - we suck at trail map reading. It's hard and we failed miserably. We took a wrong turn that made our 5 mile hike into a much more difficult 8 mile hike. Although, I have to say that the hardest parts were kind of the coolest parts too. Unfortunately about 2/3 of the way through, while climbing up some rock formations, I didn't lift my leg high enough and I took a pretty decent tumble. We made it to a lake (that was no where near where we intended to go) and took a rest there. I cleaned up my battered leg and soaked my feet in the ice water before we were on our way.
Even with a pretty nasty injury, I had a terrific time and I'm totally looking forward to another ridiculous hike with Kristyn next weekend.

Kris at the first lookout point.

 Second lookout point

Awesome rocks above us as we hiked down. This was after our wrong turn...

Kris in the crazy weird thing she made me climb through...Awesome, but a tiny bit creepy.

 The super gorgeous Lake Awosting.

Awesome rock "beach". They allow swimming here in the summer!!

Life is pretty darn good sometimes.

My wound...I'm ok, but it definitely hurts and the black and blue is not going to look pretty with skirts for the rest of the week!

gone hiking...

I got those awesome shoes I wanted for my birthday! The Merrel Pure Gloves. I'm in love with them already and I got to break them in last Thursday when I went hiking with my friend Kara. We climbed Mt Beacon in Beacon, NY. It was pretty darn awesome, easier than either of us expected and still super fun!

It's 90 and sunny outside, we're heading to find some waterfalls...

spring is in the air....

I love that it is springtime. it is going to get into the mid 70's again this weekend! I think it's going to be rainy, but still - super warm! We don't have big plans, but I think tomorrow we will have to take the dogs to the dog park in the morning. They love to run around in the sunshine and play with the other puppies. I'm babysitting a very tiny baby boy tomorrow night too and I couldn't be more excited. He's just about 10 weeks old and still such a peanut. I love to snuggle peanuts.

I'm switching up my methods for this week's Friday Fancies. Instead of complete outfits, I picked out a couple fabulous pieces to share with you! The theme was pastels and it was oh so easy to find a million things I loved. Really the reason I'm sharing so much with you today is that I couldn't pick just one skirt. I fell in love with three of them and couldn't choose. So here are my pretty pastel picks!

an adventure!

I'm heading on a hike this beautiful morning! Hopefully this is where I'll be in about 2 short hours! My friend Kara, whom I've known since I was 5 (that's 23 years for those of you who are counting) and I are going to go challenge ourselves this morning.... Wish us luck!

Neither picture is mine, they are spectacular and I hope we get similar views, but all credit belongs HERE.
