mis-matched

It's one of those weeks! I'm feeling super scatter brained, so it only seems appropriate that my pins this week have been all over the place. I'm blaming it all on spring fever. It's a fever I don't mind even a little bit! This totally gorgeous weather is invigorating!
Anyway...On to the things that I have found Pinteresting this week!

What could be more fun than a mimosa bar at a brunch? I can't come up with anything off hand...

Adorable tag ideas. I love these special touches.

I need all of these. Ok, I probably wouldn't wear those shorts...But the rest is perfection.

I'm a grown adult and I want these in my bathroom. I'll probably wait until I have children though...

I can't wait to teach my kids to dream big!

I really love the royal icing piping on here. I'm not so in love with the bird toppers, but that's just because I don't like birds.

I'm making this for a St. Patrick's day party and I cannot wait. It just looks SO delicious.

I'll be following up that cake with this salad. It just looks so delicious.

Um, look at those flowers on there. Too gorgeous!

If you haven't seen Tangled yet stop what you're doing and go now. It is fabulous and these hats are so much fun!

Perfect ending to my spring fever inspired pin post of the day!

runDisney

Good morning friends!! Today is my day to finish packing and get my butt in gear because I leave TOMORROW for Florida and my first half marathon!!!! AHHH! That's how how I feel. Like I might spontaneously com-bust at any given moment. I'm beyond nervous and so excited I might pee my pants. I've trained. I'm ready. And I'm breathing into a paper bag.
Today's pins for Oh! How Pinteresting Wednesday are all themed for my runDisney weekend. AHHH!!!

This is crazy gorgeous. I haven't been in that castle in 10 years and I cannot wait to run through it. Just thinking about it gets me a little teary.

All of these make me want to get out there and run. Especially Nemo - Just keep swimming. Or running as it may be. No worries <3

I can and WILL do it. Sunday.

I dream it every single night. Finishing this is beyond anything I every imagined I'd be able to do, and I can't wait to have that medal around my neck.

I love sparkly running shoes. I will be glittering mine for the race. Spray sparkle EVERYWHERE.

Can't wait to stop for this photo op!!!

I feel this way already and I haven't even gotten there yet.

It will be better than any fairy tale ever told.

I have some posts set up for while I'm gone, but I'm bringing the computer so I'll be able to check in! Definitely Monday with a recap!

home inspiration

I know it is only early January but with the gorgeous weather we've had, it feels like spring is just around the corner. Springtime makes me think of cleaning and redecorating. I love the feel of a bright fresh coat of paint on the walls and maybe even on some furniture!
That's why I'm devoting this week's oh how pinteresting post to home decor!
As always, go check out what everyone else is pinning at The Vintage Apple!

This paint color is called Glass Slipper by Benjamin Moore. So gorgeous. That mirror is kind of awesome too!

I love this house. All of those windows though! They're good and evil...Lots of sunlight is great. But lots of heat in the summer and lots of cold in the winter. But wonderful to look at.

I adore this headboard. The patchwork is gorgeous and bright and airy. I love it.

I love bench seating in the kitchen. It just seems so homey and cozy. I love it.

Love horizontal stripes in a hallway! Even better with the picture layout...and those puppy pictures just make me smile :)

I love nurseries even though I don't (and won't for a while) have a reason to have one in my house. But I really love this color combo. Gorgeous.

Hope you're having a perfect Wednesday!

ready to run

I've been training for my half for what seems like a really long time now. I've been running and working on it for almost a year. I can't believe that it is less than two months away. I've been really lucky that I haven't had a hard time finding my inspiration to get out there and run. I've honestly really loved every moment of my training.

I want to run the Brooklyn Bridge this year...I don't know when, perhaps before the half, but it just seems like a pretty awesome place to go for a run.

I remind myself of this every single time I go for a run. I don't look like a runner, but I certainly feel like one! It was hard at first going into running stores, feeling like I don't belong there. But I know I do. I work hard and I may be slow, but I am out there, pounding the pavement.

Gorgeous. I want to run there.

Again...I love this sentiment. I may not be fast...but I'm still doing it!!

ready to party!

It's New Years Eve weekend!! Last weekend was a time to relish in family time and this weekend is time to party your butt off! Saturday we are spending the day at my sister's house celebrating my niece's 11th birthday and then glam-ifying ourselves! We're going all out with sparkle and glitz for the night even though we will just be celebrating at her house.
It will be a night filled with games and booze and I'm sure more laughter than I can handle.

I'm linking up with Alison of Long Distance Loving as always for Friday's Fancies. I can't wait to see how everyone else is glam-ing up to ring in the new year!!

I had to throw the engagement ring in there! Who wouldn't love getting that surprise at midnight?! I know I would.

cookie time

I'm not sure of where the tradition of Christmas cookies came from, but they are one of my favorite things this time of year. I love to bake (I think that's a given) and I love to give delicious food to my family and friends. I like to try new recipes every year while still doing a couple of old classics. It wouldn't be Christmas without chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, or gingerbread. But there is always room to try out some new recipes that just may become classics. I have a couple of recipes that I'll share with you in the coming weeks that are my absolute favorites.
I pinned a couple new recipes this week so that's the theme I'm sticking to for this week's link up with Michelle of The Vintage Apple.

Sugar cookies in gorgeous bright colors with simple designs. I love these.

Eggnog Spritz cookies. Everyone loves these, and I love the light muted colors. Normally we do them in bright greens and red, but I'm kind of digging the light blue and greens.

Christmas pudding cookies? Gorgeous. I love the soft texture they seem to have and the adorable fondant designs.

I love shortbread cookies. I love them more when they're dipped in chocolate. Then dipped in candy canes? Life is good.

Gingerbread. Yum.

blogging for health

Recently I came across this group of bloggers called Bloggers For Health and I was seriously excited. I'm definitely not a health and fitness blogger, but one of the reasons I wanted to start this little blog here was to keep track of my half marathon training. I am trying to work diligently on becoming a healthier person. My biggest goal is to feel good. Losing weight and looking better in clothes will definitely be a perk, but I am really looking to feel strong and like I can do anything.

The prompt for this week is to write about 5 ways to a healthier life. I love this wording. It isn't about 5 ways to lose weight, or 5 ways to run faster, I love the vague open wording.
Right now I'm overweight, I'm working on it, but I'm not in a healthy place. It is taking crazy hard work, but I'm getting there. I hit a major plateau and trying to figure out how to bust through it.
So my five steps that I'd like to take to get to my "healthy place" are:

Eat more whole foods. I really don't eat very many processed foods to begin with, but I think the more natural unprocessed foods I consume the better off I'll be. Knowing what is in what you're eating is a huge step toward fueling your body in the best way possible. By far the easiest way to do this is to prepare the foods yourself or eat foods straight from the source. My favorite way of doing that this fall has been apples and pears right from the orchards. Nothing beats freshly picked fruit.

Incorporate different types of workouts. I'm working on becoming a runner. I like to call myself a runner, but I don't think I'm actually there yet. In order to become the best runner I can be, cross training is going to be critical. I've been trying to add lots of elliptical workouts and other outdoor workouts too. Hiking has been a great activity in the cooler weather!

Strength training. This doesn't just mean pumping iron in the gym, but that is definitely part of it. I need to work my core. I think core strengthening will make me a better runner and will just make me feel more fit in life. Feeling stronger is a big step toward feeling healthy.

Find more time for sleep. Everyone knows that sleep is imperative to a good life, but so many of us slack in that department. It seems like it would be the easiest, and really most fun, way to make strides toward good health. I'm making it a definite goal to schedule in more snooze time!

Make a plan for you. You can't take steps toward getting healthy if you don't know what healthy means for you. I am certain that I will never be a size 2, but I also know that I can be incredibly fit. I can eat foods that fuel my system and conquer just about anything. Knowing how to get there isn't easy but making a plan and having smaller goals. I made the goal of running the Princess Half Marathon and taking the steps to get myself there. After I conquer that goal, who knows what it next...hopefully a triathlon or two!

on the bright side

September and October is crazy time in my family. I'm one of 20 cousins and my dad was one of 7 kids, so there are tons of birthdays and anniversaries all year long, but somehow we get overloaded with them in both September and October. For example this week we had/have birthdays on the 20, 22, 23, 25, and 27. It's NUTS. I'd like to have a major shout out to my Momma who is turning a very young 52 years old today! She is an amazing woman, incredibly inspiring and I hope that I got her strength. I have seen her perservere through things that would have knocked anyone down. Not only did she get through it, she did it with style! Go Mom!! Happy Birthday!!

When I'm feeling down and like I'm not really up for anything I remind myself of the things that make me happy. I'm a lucky girl. I have a fabulous set of family and friends, I have an amazing boyfriend, I get to wake up each day and do something I love, and I have two of the most adorable yorkies on the planet. With this thought in mind, I decided to join up with Erin over at Living in Yellow for her Friday link up, Capturing Joy. I'm also linking up with {av} at Long Distance Loving for Friday Fancies. I was just going to do Capturing Joy but the Friday Fancies theme, the cozy side of fall, happens to be one of my favorite things. So it fit in well with my joy. Plus, I picked a VERY purple outfit which is one of my "happy colors." I can't wear purple without a big grin on my face, it just has that effect on me. So without further ado -

Untitled

I love this outfit. Like I said, I love purple, but love  it most when paired with grey. And now onto...

Hot air balloon that flew over our heads at the park before the race
started. It was pretty cool.

Immediately after his race. His legs were killing him, so he hopped up
on this ledge and sat for a minute before walking down to get some
snack-a-licious goodies.
Amazing card I got on Monday, totally cheered me up.

My new haircut, take 2. I got it retrimmed, definitely a benefit of your
aunt being your hairdresser.

Date night with Mike after the race. We saw Contagion. I loved it but it
was kind of hard to watch and it made me want to never leave the
house ever ever again.

Not sure if you can see what is going on here. But Cooper grabbed a paper plate off the counter and used it as a pillow
under the dining room table. weirdo dog.
