Tonight I'm heading to Boston for the first time in about 2 years. I couldn't be more excited about this trip. After the week I've had, it is well deserved. Every single one of my college friends are reconvening in Boston  to celebrate our friend Anne turning 29!

Tomorrow night we will be donning our most awful outfit combinations and hopping on a party bus to drink our faces off and dance our booties off.

Aside from the bus, I'm dying to go to some of my favorite old haunts. A few bakeries, a few bars and I plan on spending a very long time just wandering around the commons soaking it in.

Love the idea of a pie party. Growing up, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was "pie day" in my family. All the women would congregate at my Grandma's house and we would spend all day making a million different pies. Apple, cherry, pecan, chocolate, pumpkin...Some of my favorite Thanksgiving memories are from pie day.

best of friends

My friend Sean was in town this weekend from Rochester. He came down Friday night and we had a few too many margaritas and a few too many enchiladas. Spent the whole night catching up and laughing. Saturday included beer, wings and an all night dance party. Then Sunday was a bit more low key, hanging down the the river before sending Sean back home. 

new adventures

This weekend was full of crazy ups and downs. I had an amazing time with some really great people. There was a lot of talk about new adventures and that always brings me back to the opening of "Up". If you haven't seen this movie you need to download it/netflix/rent how ever you choose to watch movies it TONIGHT. If you don't believe me, then please watch the 8 minute long opening sequence. I cry like a baby every. single. time. I watch it.
That's how I'm choosing to leave today's post. There is a lot going on with me, but I'm going to try to work it all out in my head before I try to bring it up and talk about it here.

On Thursday night Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton won an award for their song "Over You". I've been listening to it all weekend and thinking of my dad. I really do love listening to songs my dad loved. It makes me happy remembering the joy it brought to him. Now I'm off to listen to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Carol of the Bells.

I don't know what you're up to this wonderful Friday night, but after the week I've had, I'm planning on a pretty quiet night. There is a busy weekend ahead of me. Plus, I'm saving money and energy for next weekend when I have a friend coming into town. I have all sights set on next week.

That doesn't mean I don't want to feel (and look!) adorable while just laying low tonight.

halloween trivia

I spent my Halloween at Newburgh Brewing Company's Halloween trivia and costume party. Kristyn and her boyfriend Eric ventured out our way to join us and we met some new people to help us with the trivia portion.

Kristyn and I happened to reuse costumes this year because we weren't really planning on doing anything in advance. Oddly enough, we seprately picked costumes that we had worn years ago together! My how we have grown:

Happy Halloween!! My most fun plan for the day is that I'm going to go to the gym in my princess half running gear as a "costume." Doesn't everyone want to workout in a costume on Halloween? I definitely do.
I'm hoping to head to trivia tonight, in costume. Fingers crossed!

hip-hip-hooray!

We just got power back a couple minutes ago and I'm beyond thrilled to have heat and not have to flush a toilet with water scooped from my full bath tub anymore.

We were lucky. Less than 24 hours without power, zero flooding and no property damage. The areas around me seem to be spared a bit more than they were expecting.

My thoughts and prayers are most certainly with those in NYC and on the NJ coast. Seems they got stuck with the worst of it.

I'll be back tomorrow with a normal post!

"Snow day"!! Well, hurricane day! No work, no anything and hopefully we keep the power on for today and tomorrow.

After the gym yesterday I stocked up on beer and we made a trip to the farm stand to get some last minute veggies and other delicious food to snack on. We have a gas stove and a fire place so even without electricity I think we're ready for this storm. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that she isn't as bad as we're prepared for.

If you're in the northeast today, please stay inside. I've read a few times that people shouldn't leave their "safe place" on Monday. I think that's the best plan. Cuddle up with a good book and enjoy the sound of rain on your windows.

We are celebrating 100 Friday fancies today for av! Definitely impressive. I love this link up so much. it always has me out and searching for new outfits to swoon over and it gives me lots of fashion inspiration. Some of the outfit you ladies post are incredible. If only they could be in my closet. So, today, here is my new favorite party outfit. I saw this dress in a catalog that Express sent to me this week. It was filled to the brim with gorgeous holiday dresses, and this one stuck out. I'm in love with it.
