a bit different.

Happy Halloween!! My most fun plan for the day is that I'm going to go to the gym in my princess half running gear as a "costume." Doesn't everyone want to workout in a costume on Halloween? I definitely do.
I'm hoping to head to trivia tonight, in costume. Fingers crossed!

I know I'm the odd girl out today, not sharing Halloween pins...But, I feel like I've been there done that. So, mostly here are some of my favorite things from this week on pinterest!

Love, love, love this stamp.

I would really like to recreate this space in my future attic. I love it. I really like the colors and feeling of the room.

I really like the way these look. I'm not sure I care for the "magazine covered" letters, but I do like the bold colors instead of muted ones!

Ok, this one is a bit Halloween-y. I'm all for glitter today!!

Special occasion hair at it's finest.

Problems.

Oh look. More glitter.
What did you pin today?

hip-hip-hooray!

We just got power back a couple minutes ago and I'm beyond thrilled to have heat and not have to flush a toilet with water scooped from my full bath tub anymore.

We were lucky. Less than 24 hours without power, zero flooding and no property damage. The areas around me seem to be spared a bit more than they were expecting.

My thoughts and prayers are most certainly with those in NYC and on the NJ coast. Seems they got stuck with the worst of it.

I'll be back tomorrow with a normal post!

Oh, Sandy.

"Snow day"!! Well, hurricane day! No work, no anything and hopefully we keep the power on for today and tomorrow.

After the gym yesterday I stocked up on beer and we made a trip to the farm stand to get some last minute veggies and other delicious food to snack on. We have a gas stove and a fire place so even without electricity I think we're ready for this storm. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that she isn't as bad as we're prepared for.

If you're in the northeast today, please stay inside. I've read a few times that people shouldn't leave their "safe place" on Monday. I think that's the best plan. Cuddle up with a good book and enjoy the sound of rain on your windows.

100.

We are celebrating 100 Friday fancies today for av! Definitely impressive. I love this link up so much. it always has me out and searching for new outfits to swoon over and it gives me lots of fashion inspiration. Some of the outfit you ladies post are incredible. If only they could be in my closet. So, today, here is my new favorite party outfit. I saw this dress in a catalog that Express sent to me this week. It was filled to the brim with gorgeous holiday dresses, and this one stuck out. I'm in love with it.

pinning!

There is no rhyme or reason, just a bunch of things I'm loving today.

Can't wait to see what you've all found! Leave love so I can stop by and see your pins too!

Pumpkin and feta risotto? Yum!

I love cranberries anywhere, especially when wrapped around a glowing candle.

Baby sized pecan pies? That sounds like a good plan to me!!

Oh, sigh.

I think I'll be adding pine cones to my holiday decor this year. This is just gorgeous.

Oh, I'm not normally a fan of bread pudding, but this looks delicious.

One of the most gorgeous color combinations I've ever seen.

Who doesn't need a glitter reindeer silhouette?!

For real.

This sounds amazing! I'll be making it this weekend I think. Let you know how it is!

bake sale!

My sister Jenn is a pre-k teacher. Last Friday they held their annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser. The teachers (or in this case, the teacher's sister) all bring in a baked good and the proceeds all go to breast cancer research. Jenn had high hopes for what she wanted to bring in, and she isn't exactly a baker. I love her and she is a fabulous teacher, but there isn't really an artsy bone in her body!

We made pink(ish) chocolate chip cookies, pink rice crispy treats and oreo truffles dipped in pink white chocolate! They were all super delicious. The things we made brought in $100 themselves, I'd consider that a successful fundraiser. I think the total was around $400!

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures! I just snapped a couple quickly before packing them up!

a festive table

After I made my festive Halloween party I was very inspired to put together a similar post but for Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving. Really my favorite time of the year is November 1 - December 24. Don't get me wrong, Christmas is fan-freaking-tastic, but the day itself has nothing on the build up. I'm one of those crazy people that begins the holiday season on November 1 and I'm ok with it. It's not like I'm celebrating Christmas every day for 2 months, but I'm celebrating my family. I'm spending as much time as possible enjoying all of my blessings.

So, a few of my must haves for a perfect Thanksgiving table -

ohp

Happy Wednesday! Be sure to leave some love so I can come check out your pins too!

Gorgeous flowers. I'm a really huge fan ofsoft monotone bouquets.

So, so true. I'm ready for a new adventure. Who's in??

I actually laughed out loud at this one. Something my sister and I refer to "sgs" Stupid Girl Syndrome. It happens to all of us.

I'm too old to have this in my bedroom, right?

Pecan shortbread cookies? They sound delicious.

Lose the hat, but I LOVE the shoes.

more on dana.

We've gotten a little bit of an update on Dana's situation.

At the homecoming game this past weekend.

Her doctors don't want to do a second brain surgery until 12/27, so that will be the date of her surgery. Apparently the risk factors increase exponentially if the surgeries are close together. Since there are already such high risks involved, they are taking as many precautions as they can.

Unfortunately, since they are waiting another 2 months, her condition is going to get worse. The fluid that is putting pressure on her nerves is going to continue to increase which will lead to her losing her memory again, and more than likely she'll be in a lot of pain by surgery day. She is already getting headaches and she got her first nose bleed the other day. The nose bleeds are a sign that things are getting significantly worse. She has started repeating herself, she's losing her short term memory and her long term won't be far behind.

Dana met with her doctors and a therapist the other day. They had her in a support group with other people who have similar injuries and who will be having the same surgery as her. At this support group she learned the biggest risk of this surgery, outside of death, is that there is a 30% chance that she won't wake up. She'd be in a persistant vegetative state.

I can't even. The strength and bravery she has shown is beyond incredible. She's only 21! All of this happened because some a-hole decided that he should drive while high. A 30% chance that she'll live, but will never wake up?! What the heck? She has been advised by her doctors to make scrap books and take pictures with the people she loves so that after surgery she will be able to relearn everyone a little bit faster. She should start journaling and keeping track of her feelings for those around her. This is just a nightmare that the poor girl is stuck in.

go danes!

This weekend was SUNY Albany's homecoming weekend. My cousin, Allie, is a cheerleader up there and as a show of support, the family trekked up there to tailgate and cheer on the cheerleaders as they cheered the football team to victory!
Since we are who we are, and we don't do anything small, we brought the whole family and we tailgated for hours before the game! You would have thought we were at a top 10 team's game! But, they won and we had a blast, so really - that's all that matters!

Our cheerleader and her proud parents

You can't tell me that his viking hat isn't the cutest thing you've ever seen.

The guys being the dorks that they are.

Prec with the Dane!

I can't believe that baby is 4 already. He is so darn big.

A bit of a homecoming collage! She is one awesome cheerleader!

falling leaves

Foliage is at it's peak this week around here. It is really beautiful outside. I'm looking forward to the weekend. My family is spending Saturday up at SUNY Albany for their homecoming football game. My cousin is a cheerleader up there so we're taking the opportunity to head up to party! We sure do like to party. I'm hoping to get in a couple bike rides to take in all of the colors.

Speaking of colors, that was our theme this week for Friday Fancies!
