sunday beach day

It has been a crazy week. Jess had the baby on Saturday after being induced on Friday. It's hard to believe it has been a week since I got the phone call that she was having contractions Friday morning. I love the little bundle of joy more than anything in the entire world. I can't get enough of him. I just want to eat him up! Since she had the baby on Saturday, my Aunt Barb and cousin Zoe flew in from Colorado to surprise everyone on Monday. It has been completely awesome to have them in town and to get to visit. The even better part is that my Aunt will be back again in August!
Yesterday was my the graduation for my sister's preschool class. It was absolutely crazy! For the class of 36 kids 225 people came to the graduation. My Aunts and I catered the whole thing. Baked ziti for all!

We are actually heading to the beach this Sunday so this week's Friday Fancies is very appropriate! I wish this is what I was wearing to the beach this weekend!!!

c-razy.

I'm up to my elbows in frosting and cupcakes. I'm exhausted.
I've bake 12 dozen cupcakes so far today and have 7 more to go....I've been working on it for 8 hours already and probably have 5-6 more to go...

beyond blessed

This weekend will go down in the record books as one of the best ever. A baby, a 21st birthday, celebrating a new home and successful home showings (we’re trying to sell). Glorious.

Friday morning my sister, Jess, woke up at around 2am with contractions. She waited until 5am to call us and inform us it was go time! We went to her house and walked around her yard and helped her cope as best we could. She had her scheduled doctors appointment at 9am so she got ready and went, hoping to be sent to the hospital to have this baby! Well, it didn’t go that way. In reality, it didn’t go as planned at all. She had low fluid levels, was sent for a second opinion and did end up at the hospital to have the baby, but she was being induced. Throughout her pregnancy the one thing that she really didn’t want was to be induced with pitocin. Really, she would have preferred a c-section. They decided to start with cervidil for 12 hours. She started the process at 3:30 pm and was supposed to start pitocin (because apparently very rarely women deliver off just cervidil). We hung around and coached her through contractions and had a small party in the waiting room. It got bad and she only wanted Dan and mom in the room with her. The rest of us had some pizza and laughed and chatted until after midnight. She had only progressed to 2cm so the nurse told us to go home and get some sleep because it was going to be a very long process.

I got home and slept for about 2 hours before waking up to my mom telling me she was heading to the hospital because Jess had progressed to 5cm and was getting the epidural. Ten minutes later we got a text that she was 9cm and we better hurry. I woke up my other sister and we poured our exhausted selves into the car. (4 hours sleep Thursday night and 2 hours Friday night) About 5 minutes after we got to the hospital she was ready and waiting for the urge to push. She pushed 3 times and out came my beautiful, fabulous, perfect nephew.

block party

Ok, hopefully this is my last Friday without a nephew! Jess is DUE on SUNDAY! Wahoo! I'm so excited. Now I'm well aware that really means nothing, but hey - he should come now! I said so. Jeez I'm tired of waiting.
I have very fun plans for this weekend and I'm totally excited for it. Saturday we are celebrating my cousin's 21st birthday and my bestest friend is stopping by my house on her way from Florida to Maine to see her parents. I haven't seen her since February and she's pregnant, due in September. I can't wait to rub her belly! And giver her lots of love!!

While everyone else is color blocking today for Friday Fancies, I'm being a rebel and picking a gorgeous summer Friday night on the waterfront outfit. Perfectly casual yet put together. I love it. Hope you have a fabulous weekend, no matter what your plans!

ohp - favorite things

I'm loving Pinterest this week. I've been stalking around passing time in the evenings while hoping and wishing for the phone call that Jess is in labor. But alas, it hasn't happened yet. We're waiting very impatiently! She'll be 40 weeks on Sunday. We're ready for him to be here!!

Some of the most gorgeous flowers I have ever seen. I'm in love.

Loving this for a kid's room. I love the idea of putting the alphabet on the wall and the mixing of fonts/colors/patterns here is so fun!

The other day I volunteered to go to my cousin's new house and help build a fire pit. I've never done it before, but one of my unexpected talents is that I'm quite the contractor! I hope I get this opportunity. If I do, I'll definitely post pictures!

Beautiful. That's all!

a day for fathers

I don’t celebrate Fathers Day. It’s a bit of a bummer, but since my dad died, there are certain days of the year that are kind of torture for me. That is one of them. I have a lot of trouble spending the day with people celebrating their dads when I feel like those men don’t even hold a candle to mine. I know that is a beyond terrible thought, but hey….sometimes it’s ok to think bad things. That’s why I try not to put myself in those situations.

Early yesterday morning my mom was running a 5k and I told her I would go cheer for her. Well, I didn’t know that it was VERY early – we had to be there at 6am. oye. So we got there and got her all registered and we were waiting around and that’s when the people running the Fathers Day Challenge Half Marathon started arriving. There were lots of people running in honor of their dads who had died and that was killer. I cried, kind of a lot. But my mom did fabulously! She won first in her age group!! Go Mom!

After that we went and spent the day by my Aunt’s pool just hanging out and barbecuing. Over all it was a really great day and I’m glad I got to spend it with some of my favorite fathers in my family!

similar yet different

Happy Friday! Yet another Friday without Branson making an appearance. As his Aunt, I think I'm just as excited for him to get here as his mom!

But this weekend is not without celebrations! My cousin Dylan and his girlfriend Gigi are expecting a baby and we are celebrating them and their new family this weekend with a baby shower. I'm super excited. You can see the family/maternity pictures I took of them last weekend here.

So for this week's Friday's Fancies, AV suggested we recreate an outfit we adore. When I'm looking for outfit ideas or style advice in general, I make a stop by J's Everyday Fashion for ideas. So it just seemed brilliant to use one of my favorite looks of her's over the last couple months. This is totally what I wish I was wearing to the shower this weekend.

And here is my interpretation:

similar yet totally different

Have a fabulous weekend!!
